Selmer New Large Bore
This is a stunning vintage Selmer from 1931, Selmer “New Large Bore” tenor saxophone, serial number 14777. The saxophone features lovely matte gold lacquer finish with gold lacquer key work and bell accent. These old Selmer NLB's are robust vintage players and a blast to play. This one in particular has both an elegant look which is fabulously complemented by its lush sonic character.
The body of the sax shows a unique look matte lacquer finish. This saxophone was originally silver plated but was professionally re-finished. It now shows a matte gold finish around the body with standard gold lacquer on the key work, octave key and bell accent. The original neck and original key work and guards all intact. Its body tube, bow, bow cap and bell are all in very nice condition. Looking over the sax closely you can see past solder repairs around some of the guard feet. The sax has also had a repair and reinforcement performed on the thumb hook for the right hand. Some of the key pearls of the saxophone have also been replaced and are not original.
This saxophone came to us having been re-padded in another shop within the last few years. In order to make sure it leaves in perfect playing condition it will receive a professional set up in our shop before shipping. The set up will include a dissemble, cleaning, thorough key fitting and regulation of the key work. While the horn is apart we will also replace any materials that are not up to our standards. When complete the saxophone will be in perfect playing condition.
